Kirby Smart is heading into his 11th season as the head football coach at Georgia.

The Georgia Bulldogs enter the 2026-27 season with typical championship expectations after another offseason of head coach Kirby Smart assembling a talented roster that is loaded with experience. After making the College Football Playoff as the three-seed before being taken out by Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl, Smart and the Bulldogs will have the firepower to make it back once again. 

At the end of last season, the Bulldogs finished with an 8.39 BiteScore that ranked them eighth overall in the nation. They’ll once again be in that category to compete for a Southeastern Conference title and a College Football Playoff berth. 

For the offense, it’s year two for junior quarterback Gunner Stockton, who will be making another full start this season after throwing for 2,894 yards and 24 touchdowns, along with 462 yards rushing and 10 ground touchdowns. Other key returners include Nate Frazier as the main running back, alongside Chauncey Bowens, Dwight Phillips Jr, and Kentucky transfer Dante Dowdell.

Through the transfer portal, Georgia was able to scoop up Georgia Tech wide receiver Isiah Canion. He finished with 480 yards receiving and four touchdowns last season. One of the biggest areas the Bulldogs made sure of was to bring back four of their young offensive linemen, including 6-foot-10 junior Jahzare Jackson and sophomore Juan Gaston. 

Talented sophomore Elijah Griffin and fourth-year junior Xzavior McLeod lead the defensive front for the Bulldogs, along with Jordan Hall, Gabe Harris Jr. and Quintavius Johnson. Smart also added Auburn transfer Amaris Williams on the edge in the portal.

The inside linebackers are still led by a bounty of Bulldogs with Chris Cole, Justin Williams and Raylen Wilson swarming the line of scrimmage with a combined 82 tackles last season. 

Georgia faces one of the toughest schedules in the nation while also having one of the most talented rosters. Can Kirby outsmart his opponents again and make another National Championship Run?
