Last week was great for our betting season and for my bank account. We went 4-0 last week in a week which, funnily enough, was the least confident I’d been in my bets all year. If that’s not sports betting for you, I don’t know what is. 

Our bet of the week hit late with an awesome late game drive from Conner Weigman, and we had the rest of our wins sprinkled throughout Saturday. Let’s get into the bets for Week 4 and improve to 13-4.

Bet of the Week

For my bet of the week, we’re traveling with College Gameday for the first time this year. The Texas Longhorns take on the Tennessee Volunteers in the first SEC matchup for both teams. This game has a pretty simple feel to me as someone who’s watched both of these teams play multiple games this year. 

Texas is just simply better than Tennessee. Significantly better. Looking through these teams, I just don’t see a position group that the Volunteers have an advantage at. Tennessee is also less experienced. Faizon Brandon has had a solid start to the year, but struggled in his only game against a Power 4 opponent, completing less than 50 percent of his passes and not hitting the 150-yard mark through the air. Texas is a much better team, a more experienced team, and will show the Vols why they are the real UT.

Pick: Texas covers the 4.5 spread

Quick Hitters

Missouri-Mississippi State is one of the more interesting games of this week for me. Both teams have some question marks, and many of them will be answered in this game. However, the one question that doesn’t need to be answered is the offensive capabilities of both of these teams. 

Both come in with high-powered offenses that can put up some serious points. Kamario Taylor is quickly becoming one of my, and the nation’s, favorite players with his incredibly exciting playmaking ability. I’m a believer in both of these offenses, so give me the over at 58.5.

This next bet feels very similar to the Texas game to me; Alabama should crush South Carolina. This Alabama team continues to look extremely good minus the first few drives of the game, and I believe DeBoer will be able to get them away from that this week. Give me the Crimson Tide to roll over the Gamecocks at home and cover -12.5.

To keep this last one short and sweet, Texas Tech is a team that just doesn’t inspire much confidence in me on a week-to-week basis. I bet against them last week for the bet of the week, so let’s continue that hot streak. I like the Sam Houston State Bearcats to cover a large spread of 34.5 this week; I feel like this game will have a 42-10 type of score.

Longshot of the Week

My favorite long shot this week is a team that most are down on, but I think could have a big bounce-back this week. Texas A&M  had an awful Week 3, but so did LSU. I have a lot more confidence in Mike Elko as a coach to help his team bounce back than Lane Kiffin. I worry that LSU losing last week puts its season in a bad spot. If you’re feeling bold, take the Aggies at +280 to beat LSU.
