The Big 12 was fortunate to land some elite talent in the transfer portal once the 2026 offseason came to a close. One team in particular got a stash of elite transfers, all coming from the same school. 

Multiple running backs, wide receivers and quarterbacks (tight ends currently excluded) made up a few elite transfer portal hauls in the conference, with a few standing out more than others. 

The names on this list shouldn’t surprise anyone at the end of the day. Here’s a look at the five best transfers entering the Big 12. 

Honorable mentions

Omarion Miller, an Arizona State wide receiver who went to Tempe from Colorado, was the first guy left off the list with a 6.91 2025 BiteScore. A pairing of FCS players, UCF running back Landen Chambers from Central Arkansas and TCU quarterback Jaden Craig from Harvard, were the next two left off.

Cook started his career in the Big 12 and now he will end it there. Cook was minimally productive with TCU between 2023 and 2024, but excelled with Jacksonville State last season. He recorded 1,659 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns on 5.6 yards per carry. 

The Round Rock, Texas, product simply needed a change of scenery to change his college football career. Now, he has a chance to be one of the best backs in the conference. 

It’s not an easy feat to lead the nation in rushing yards, even if it’s at the Group of 5 level. It will be interesting to see how that translates in 2026 with the Mountaineers.

Young is the first member of the three-headed snake in Stillwater. He’s a dynamic receiver who logged over a thousand yards last season for North Texas, with the goal to do the same again. He’ll have a talented quarterback to his left or right and should be primed for a big season.

Mestemaker is the only quarterback on this list and this shouldn’t come as a surprise. He was one of the best quarterbacks in the Group of 5 last season and that should be the case with his move to the Big 12. 

The former North Texas quarterback is surrounded by talent in Stillwater and has an elite arm to go with that. Oklahoma State is a sleeper in the conference because it’ll have Mestemaker under center, potentially putting some pressure on the sophomore to perform at a high level.

Scudero might be the biggest surprise of this list. He’s a player that will be slept on and will likely not be on a very successful team, but he could easily propel himself into the NFL if he replicates his production from the season before. Scudero logged 1,297 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns last season.

Caleb Hawkins is a BiteScore demon and that likely won’t change in 2026. He’s one of the best returning players in the country, according to our rankings, and he has the opportunity to make an even bigger name for himself at Oklahoma State. 

As a true freshman at North Texas, he ran for 1,434 yards and a whopping 25 touchdowns. That might be hard production to top, especially with a move up a conference, but Hawkins has undeniable talent that could tear up the Big 12.
