Hey, I’m Hudson Landers, and I’m a college freshman who’s way too into college football for someone who just learned how to fold his clothes. I don’t have a long, extensive resume to show or tell you about, but what I do have is a passion (that may border on obsession) with anything college football. Whether it’s the transfer portal, depth charts, or trying to get a leg up on sportsbooks, I love everything about college football. 

Week 0 is my favorite week of college football simply due to it being the first weekend that football is truly back. It’s great because there are no true data points to go off of, meaning essentially everyone is just guessing. I’ve done the research of transfers in and out, looked at depth charts, matchups, even weather reports, so that hopefully you and I can start our college football betting season up on money.

With that being said, here are my inaugural picks for Week 0 of the college football season. 

Bet of the week

My favorite bet of the week comes from a game that I think will end up being the best of the week in NC State against Virginia. I love NC State this week largely due to their quarterback CJ Bailey, along with Virginia’s quarterback Beau Pribula. 

Pribula massively struggled last season as Missouri’s signal caller and his season ended with severe damage to his ankle. CJ Bailey, on the contrary, is coming off of an elite season for the Wolfpack and I believe he will continue that trend and establish himself as a true NFL prospect this season. Due to this quarterback advantage, I’m rolling with NC State.

Second best bet of the week

My second favorite bet of the week falls into the very first game of the year being played in Dublin, Ireland, between TCU and North Carolina. I love the under on what is currently 46.5 total points. 

If the weather holds up, it’s expected to be a rainy day with two offenses that are replacing considerable talent from last season. Both teams bring in new quarterbacks into offenses that aren’t expected to be of the highest quality. The first game of the season for the squads will also often be the sloppiest game of the year, and this is especially true for offenses. Add all this together and I believe it’s a perfect recipe for a low-scoring game.
